Therefore, Mr. Sud also regularly advises and provides audits to ensure compliance with labor and employment laws. However, if necessary, he will litigate and try cases as needed. For example, in May 2018 he secured a 100% defense-verdict on behalf of a small employer in an ERISA case (click here for the court’s decision).

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know you are qualified to handle my employment matter?

Mr. Sud has several years’ experience working on employment-related matters, primarily employment litigation in both state and federal courts. At the large national firms he worked at previously, he successfully represented numerous businesses of all sizes in a variety of industries. He is a Texas Rising Star, a Texas Super Lawyer, and is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Board Certification is a mark of excellence and a distinguishing accomplishment. This designation sets him apart as being an attorney with the highest, public commitment to excellence in his area of law. Furthermore, as a solo-practitioner, Mr. Sud personally handles every aspect of your case, rather than passing it off to an inexperienced associate or paralegal. Finally, Mr. Sud’s commitment to focusing on employment issues allows him to concentrate all his time, passion, and energy in maintaining his expertise and staying up to date on current legal employment trends.

Other firms have several lawyers that can defend my lawsuit. Wouldn’t it be better for my company to use a larger firm?

In some situations, utilizing a firm with several lawyers may seem to be appropriate; however, cases are often staffed with a “team” of lawyers or paralegals resulting in duplicative work, thus costing the client significantly more than needed. There is also a risk of inefficient or disjointed representation. For example, one attorney may be handling only part of the lawsuit, whereas another attorney may be handling another part. Larger firms also have significant overhead that requires them to charge clients higher fees. Mr. Sud has the large firm training and skills, yet personally handles all matters related to your lawsuit or other employment situation to provide efficient and high-quality representation from beginning to end. Mr. Sud will also take the time to understand your unique business needs in order to develop a strategy specifically tailored to achieve the most practical and efficient result.

My company has offices in several locations. Your only office is in Houston. Are you still in a position to help my company?

Yes. Although Mr. Sud is based in Houston and focused on representing clients with operations in the Houston area, he is able and willing to travel as needed to appropriately represent your company. He has represented clients all over the state of Texas and in other parts of the country.

What are your fees?

Sud Law P.C. offers a variety of fee structures depending on your company’s needs and the issues at stake. Options include hourly fees, flat-fee arrangements, and blended-fee arrangements. Contingent fee agreements may also be an option when defending certain types of lawsuits. If your only focus is to handle a dispute as cheaply as possible, rather than as aggressively or as effectively as possible, Sud Law P.C. may not be the right firm for you.

Can you represent my company in non-employment legal matters, such as personal injury defense or immigration issues?

Because Mr. Sud’s passion and expertise is labor and employment litigation and counseling, he will likely not represent your company in other matters except in unique situations or if it is related to an employment matter. He can, however, provide you with referrals to other attorneys.
